We are living at a civilizational threshold, and too many people still speak as if history were on autopilot. Artificial intelligence, biological engineering, weapons of mass destruction, information warfare, loneliness, nihilism, and spiritual exhaustion are not separate stories. They are converging pressures on the same fragile creature.
I do not say this as a prophet of doom. I say it as a student of tragedy. The Greeks understood that the age of greatest danger can also become the age of greatest human clarity. When illusions die, reality hardens. People are forced to choose: appetite or discipline, cowardice or courage, tribal delirium or sacrifice.
The tragic age does not guarantee nobility. It makes nobility necessary.
